So, there has been quite a debate in the scientific sphere lately.
To put it simple, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are the basis of regenerative medicine, a (still) dream-like way of treating patients replacing injured tissues with their own cells (so you don't have any immune rejection, like what happens with transplants).
iPSCs are normally made using complicated and time-consuming methods.
In January, a couple of papers reported the generation iPSCs of using an extremely alternative method. Something that could really change -in a good way- how you generate these cells. The problem? So far no other labs have been able to generate these alternative iPSCs, which are called stimulus-triggered acquisition of pluripotency (STAP) cells.

Now back to this world's reality, I don't think it's time yet to say that STAP cells are a fraud or not. They are, without doubt, questionable aspects in the papers, but I prefer to wait and see for a little longer before I decide on my final opinion. Actually I should probably check in the lab if we have the reagents needed an try to make STAP cells as well...
